ARC D’IRIS is my response to the assignment given to me by Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana: to organise a classical music concert at one of the biennial’s most iconic venues, the Three Chimneys of Sant Adrià de Besòs. Following a site visit with Carlus Padrissa — one of the founders of the legendary Catalan performance company, La Fura dels Baus — we decided to collaborate and develop a site-specific spectacle.

Together with the Orchestra of the Reial Cercle Artístic of Barcelona and composer Marc Migó, Carlus Padrissa proposed the piece ARC D’IRIS, which features three short works: Epitaphium: In Memoriam Hans Rott by Marc Migó; Concerto Grosso in A minor by Georg Friedrich Händel; and Carmen’s Seguidilla, specially adapted for the occasion by Marc Migó and performed by mezzo-soprano Mar Esteve.

TXU Studio, Chu Uroz, and Joana Poulastrou designed a costume for the evening and for mezzo-soprano Mar Esteve, evoking the Three Chimneys of Sant Adrià de Besòs through the use of contemporary technologies and diverse materials.
